Dear Friends of the Lyeberry:
Lyeberry and the Tom of Finland Foundation are pleased to present: Lyberry #5: Craftswap
Date: Sunday, January 31, 2010, 1:00 – 4:00 pm Location: Tom of Finland Foundation 1421 Leveta Terrace Los Angeles, CA 90026 Contact: info@lyeberry.com Lyeberry #5:Craftswap is an invitation for the public to create new works with the imagery offered from the Tom of Finland Foundation as well as discarded books, records, and other ephemera from Lyeberry’s collection. These works will be donated to the Foundation to support the purchase of needed preservation materials for their archives. Participants are encouraged to bring any techniques or materials they would like to share. The Tom of Finland foundation will also be giving tours of the Foundation and its archives. ABOUT TOM OF FINLAND FOUNDATION: In 1984, the non-profit Tom of Finland Foundation was established by Durk Dehner and his friend Touko Laaksonen a.k.a. Tom of Finland. As Tom had established worldwide recognition as the master of homo-erotic art, the Foundation's original purpose was to preserve his vast catalog of work. Several years later the scope was widened to offer a safe haven for all erotic art in response to rampant discrimination against art that portrayed sexual behavior or generated a sexual response. Today the Foundation continues in its efforts of educating the public as to the cultural merits of erotic art and in promoting healthier, more tolerant attitudes about sexuality. For more information please visit www.tomoffinlandfoundation.org ABOUT LYEBERRY: Lyeberry is a mobile information swap where participants come together to read, share, and/or trade a myriad of objects, ideas, and experiences with each other. Organized by Akina Cox and Joseph Imhauser, Lyeberry’s main focus is to personalize the distribution of knowledge by holding events focused on the sharing of the documented and undocumented, performed and published, temporal and permanent. Past events have been open video screening, software swaps, performance shares, and potlucks. For more information please visit www.lyeberry.com Lyeberry #5:Craftswap will be held January 31st 2010 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Tom of Finland Foundation, 1421 Leveta Terrace, Los Angeles, CA 90026.
